PA Class Recap - Kitchen Sink Stamps & Sweet 'n Sassy

Greetings!! I'm back with some photos of our Stamping Around PA class projects! I'm going to only post a few photos each day this week so I can highlight little tidbits from our classes.

We'll start with Friday, when Julie started the evening with a class using Kitchen Sink Stamps. Kitchen Sink manufactures multi-step stamps....usually three steps but sometimes as many as five! I've used these stamps at a few of our other Stamping Around events but never really gotten the hang of it, these stamps take practice!! So it was a treat to have Julie walk us through the process, step by step. She even provided us with hints on how to achieve the best effects and the easiest way to work through the steps.

It's hard to tell from the photos but each step requires you to ink an individual stamp before stamping onto the cardstock. Each step adds just a hint of shading. It's really a genius approach to stamping. The end result is so life-like. I, and I think everyone, really enjoyed having a more in-depth class on how to use these stamps properly.

On the first card shown, we actually only used one stamp to stamp the small lightbulbs. But then Julie demonstrated how we could easily add a string to our lights by simply drawing a thin line with a marker.
On this card, would you believe that the first layer of color on each bulb is a blue? Even the red bulb starts with a blue ink! I find it amazing the way the colors and layers blend together to create the finished piece. And how cute is that paper paired with the two Kitchen Sink bulb stamps? Darling!

Our next card showcased the stamps sporting five different color bulbs. Interestingly enough, it doesn't take that many inks to create these different looks...because you're able to create different colors by stamping off some of the ink before applying the image to paper, then on the next step using the ink full strengh.

Anyone notice a mistake on my cardabove? You're a super genius if you do...I'll never tell...

I also want to mention that Kitchen Sink has started selling mini sets, the images above are from a brand new mini set, that contain just a few key images and sentiments. This set, and the other mini sets, retail for $7.50.

After Julie's class, we had a surprise for our attendees...a BONUS class! This was a quick card class brought to us by Korin, owner of Sweet 'n Sassy stamps, and was the perfect ending to our evening.

Korin showcased one of her sentiment sets for this card. And how many people think that the above tree is from one stamp? I did! The image is actually made up of a boatload of individual sayings that Korin made into the shape of a tree! I thought that was so clever! She even used brown ink for the "happy" portion to act as the tree trunk. It's hard to tell on my photo but the small dots in between the sentiments are the tree ornaments, created by using dots of Stickles. This was a great project, made even more fun by the fact that Korin had a table set up at the event to showcase and sell many of her stamp sets.

We'd like to thank Kitchen Sink Stamps and Sweet 'n Sassy for their valuable contribution to our PA event!! We loved the projects!! And each of these vendors raffled off the stamp sets that we used for our projects (about 12 sets in all!) so many attendees went home with free stamps sets!!

Check back tomorrow for a few of our Saturday projects...
